New Brainspotting Certification Requirements (Effective November 1, 2025)

If you’ve been considering Brainspotting certification, it’s important to know that the requirements are changing starting November 1, 2025. Whether you’re just beginning or already partway through, these changes affect how you’ll plan your training, session tracking, and consultation.

The Updated Requirements

Beginning November 1, all applicants for initial Brainspotting certification must:

1. Complete Trainings: Brainspotting Phase 1 and Phase 2, plus one advanced training (Phase 3, Phase 4, Phase 5, or Masterclass). You can find upcoming trainings at https://brainspotting.com/get-trained/

2. Log Your Practice: Document 50 Brainspotting sessions that use set-ups from Phase 1 and Phase 2.

3. Consultation or Intensive:

   • Complete 6 hours of consultation with the same Approved Consultant (only up to 2 months pre-Phase 2 may count), or

   • Attend a 5-day Brainspotting Intensive with an Approved Trainer.

4. Submit Your Application: Include proof of sessions, liability insurance (or waiver), payment, and a Consultant Report.

5. Finish in Two Years: The certification process must be completed within two years of your final required training.
